Little Night Bat — Sewing Pattern & Tutorial

Make your own Little Night Bat — a hanging fabric bat designed to hang upside down by its long fabric straps.

This original EFI Little Things design is a lovely Halloween sewing project, autumn decoration or characterful handmade toy. You can personalise it with different fabrics, embroidery, decorative stitching and embellishments.

Confident Beginner

Basic sewing skills and access to a domestic sewing machine are recommended.

The tutorial includes detailed photographs and explanations to guide you through each stage.

Finished Size

Approx. 25 × 25 cm

The long fabric straps allow Little Night Bat to hang upside down from hooks, handles, branches or other suitable places.

Fabrics & Materials

Little Night Bat works especially well in linen or cotton fabrics.

You will also need:

• lightweight fusible interfacing
• toy stuffing
• sewing thread
• embroidery thread
• basic sewing tools
• optional buttons or other decorative details

Printing

The pattern can be printed on A4 or US Letter paper.

Print at:

100% / Actual Size

Do not use “Fit to Page”.

A test square is included so you can check that your pattern has printed at the correct scale before cutting.

Decoration & Customisation

Little Night Bat can be made as simple or decorative as you like.

You can experiment with:

• contrast tummy and ear fabrics
• decorative machine stitching
• hand quilting
• embroidered details
• buttons or other embellishments
